About me
Hi there! My name is Olivia Noel, and I am a senior at the University of Kansas majoring in strategic communications and minoring in psychology. I am actively pursuing my B.S. in Journalism and expecting to graduate a semester early in December of 2021. In the last three years, I have fully immersed myself in the educational, professional, and personal opportunities KU has had to offer. With the help of my professors, employers, and peers, I have been able to acquire knowledge and experience in research, marketing, design, and psychology that will allow me to be well-prepared in my upcoming career.
My Story
As a type 4 wing 3 on the Enneagram, I am a natural-born individualist who longs to be authentically different and make a lasting impact in all areas of life. I balance numerous responsibilities in my day-to-day life within my courses, involvement, and job and have to exercise excellent time management and attention to detail. A quote I tell myself often is, "You can and will get it all done, and you will do it well," because while I keep busy, I value the quality of work and hold myself to a high standard.
I currently work as an Account Coordinator Intern at DW Creative Marketing in Overland Park, KS.
Outside of work and school, I enjoy taking part in campus organizations and activities where I have created a close community of friends and colleagues. Being President of KU Ad Club has been a goal of mine since my freshman year, so this role has a particularly special place in my heart. This has taught me how to effectively practice the process of leadership, for the success and longevity of the club is my responsibility. Since 2018, I have been a member of the Phi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority where I held a position in office as a social media chair for two consecutive years (See "Social Media Experience" tab). This has allowed me to grow in leadership and presented me with numerous community services opportunities, such as my volunteer work at Habitat for Humanity, Harvesters KC, and The Willow Domestic Violence shelter. During my time in HerCampus KU, I have worked alongside an empowering group of women to build community and develop engaging and relatable social media content. I have also had the opportunity to participate in events such as the 2019 Adobe Creative Jam where I expanded my skills of Adobe XD and collaborated with a group in creating a working app.
Born and raised in St. Louis, MO where my close-knit family still resides, I attribute my bubbly personality and determined spirit to the example set by my parents. From a young age, my passions have always stemmed from my inherent curiosity; I was always known for asking "well, why?" I long to find logical solutions to problems or answers to burning questions, hence my focus in research and strategy. With that being said, whether it is drawing, painting, graphic design, interior design, or photography, when I am feeling stressed or have time on my hands, I turn to art to center myself. This is especially true in the case of my greatest passion, traveling, where I document my experiences in photos and videos that I produce and edit. Since moving out of state to attend college, I have been able to grow and learn more about myself and what the world has to offer, and I don't plan to stop here.
Open to Work
With my upcoming graduation in December 2021, I am actively looking for a full-time position in the field of advertising, specifically in strategy. I am more than willing to relocate for a new adventure. I am eager to learn and feel as though I can add positive energy and fresh ideas to the table.
